Category Schools - Orientation and Mobility Specialist Job Type Contract A full-time Orientation and Mobility Specialist position is available in Lowell, MA for the 2025/2026 school year. This contract role supports students across kindergarten through 12th grade, providing specialized services to enhance their independent travel skills and confidence in various environments. The position operates Monday through Friday, from 8:15 AM to 3:15 PM, totaling 37.5 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct individualized orientation and mobility assessments for students with visual impairments. Develop and implement tailored mobility plans to support safe, independent navigation. Collaborate with educational teams and families to integrate O&M strategies within daily routines. Monitor progress and adjust interventions to meet student needs effectively. Maintain thorough documentation and comply with regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
Active Orientation and Mobility Specialist (O&M) license in Massachusetts. Experience working with a diverse caseload of children across K-12 grade levels. Strong communication skills to coordinate with educators, families, and support staff. Ability to work onsite full-time in Lowell, MA.
