Job Description

The Boston Ability Center is a pediatric outpatient rehabilitation center that provides physical, occupational, speech-language, and feeding therapy to children ages 0-18 along with our therapy dog, Stanley, in a setting that is full of fun and adventure! Our fast growing outpatient pediatric rehab center is looking for a full-time or per-diem occupational therapist. Our ideal candidate will have at least 3-5 years of experience working in a pediatric setting and have knowledge surrounding assessment and treatment of pediatric feeding disorders. However, new grads or those with less experience are still encouraged to apply. We have a highly competitive benefits package for eligible employees with paid time off. We have the greatest need for coverage during afterschool and Saturday hours. An Occupational Therapist (OT) in this setting is responsible for the following: The OT must be licensed to practice in the state of MA, and by any other governing bodies required by our payers and or by law. The OT is responsible for license renewal in a timely manner such that there is not a lapse in licensure. The OT will maintain an up to date CPR certification and will periodically demonstrate knowledge of use of AED. The OT is responsible for effectively evaluating and treating patients with a variety of neurological, orthopedic and developmental diagnoses. The OT is responsible for their own understanding and knowledge of best practices within the field of occupational therapy. This will include independent study as needed when treating unfamiliar diagnoses or symptoms. As a part of delivering outstanding care, the OT will communicate effectively and efficiently with patients' parents, caregivers, and other providers, via in person conversation, email or telephone, and in adherence with patient privacy laws and BAC policies. The OT will regularly provide a HEP; activities for parents and caregivers to carry over at home in order to facilitate patient progress towards meeting stated goals. The OT position requires the physical ability to stand, sit at desks, sit on the floor, change positions frequently and be able to lift independently lift 30 lbs. The OT will demonstrate knowledge of and indication for specific assessment tools used regularly in this setting. The OT will clearly and efficiently document both evaluation and treatment notes using our EMR system. The clinician will maintain up to date billing practices in accordance with recommendations from medical billing staff. All clinicians are encouraged to seek out expertise in their field through continuing education courses and the BAC supports the efforts of clinicians to be leaders in their field of practice. The Boston Ability Center has two locations (Natick and Wellesley). Staff divide their time between locations depending on the clinic's needs.
