Immediately Job Description Bi-County Collaborative is looking for a part time Orientation & Mobility Specialist.
Qualifications:
  • Experience working with children with visual impairments
  • Certified Orientation & Mobility Specialist (COMS)
  • Knowledge of orientation and mobility assessments and instruction
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Working and playing with students requires that employees must be able to perform the necessary physical movement functions, as needed, such as lifting, sitting, walking, standing, crawling, and engaging with students in all physical locations and activities, while adhering to the duties outlined by the district
Responsibilities:
  • The Orientation and Mobility Specialist (O&M) will be responsible for providing direct services to students, conducting assessments, developing IEP plans, evaluating progress, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams (therapists, educators, parents)
  • The role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a passion for working with students with special needs On-site, in-person

  • 12 grades Job duties: educational services, case management, evaluations:
  • Develop, implement, and assess individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities
  • Deliver instruction tailored to meet the diverse learning styles and needs of students
  • Collaborate with parents, educators, and specialists to ensure a comprehensive approach to student learning and support
  • Assess school campuses for travel safety
  • Recommend environmental modifications
  • Help plan safe travel routes around the school
  • Monitor student progress and adapt instructional strategies to improve outcomes
  • Provide one-on-one or small group instruction
  • Tailor lessons based on the student's vision level, age, and mobility needs
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance, behavior, and progress to inform ongoing instruction and planning
