Areas treated:
Primarily outpatient but do float to acute care sometimes.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Evaluates the patient's function by performing formal/informal testing measures to determine the skeletal, neurological, respiratory, cardiovascular status, developmental, social, and cognitive functions. Develops a goal specific treatment regime based on assessment data and the patient's tolerance to carry-out the treatment plan as prescribed. Submits a written treatment regime to be included as part of the plan of treatment authorized by and coordinated with the physician. Updates plan of care as needed to reflect changes in patient status. Co-signs verbal orders received by occupational therapist assistant as necessary. Devises a schedule of treatment, which is frequency and duration specific to be discussed with patient/family/caregiver and coordinated with clinical support staff. Educates patient, family, and/or caregiver regarding pathology or condition, patient alternatives, prognosis, and rationale for treatment through forms of rest, exercise, modalities, and other indicated interventions. Provides supervision for Occupational Therapist Assistants, Home Health Aides, and students per affiliate and regulatory standards.OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Recommends adaptive/supportive equipment based on assessment; contacts appropriate representative and/or supplier to place order and assists in securing equipment for patient. Documents the patient/family/caregiver response to treatment and changes in patient condition per affiliate documentation policies and/or standards and in compliance with regulatory agencies.JOB DESCRIPTION
Completes daily documentation necessary for billing procedures per affiliate policy and in compliance with regulatory agencies Provides treatment intervention and demonstrates competence to facilitate or restore optimal functioning specific to therapist's patient care area. Educates patient/family/caregiver in home education program using relevant and effective teaching methods. Demonstrates effective oral and written communication with all internal and external customers to maximize quality of patient care including coordination with interdisciplinary team members. Promotes education and development among staff, students, and other health care providers using relevant and effective teaching methods. Promotes process improvement. Assists with program development. Participates in team conferences and interdisciplinary meetings as appropriate. Promotes occupational therapy within the facility and service area, participating in and providing community education. Function as case manager for assigned cases. Demonstrates commitment to the facility and specific affiliate mission as evidenced by customer service, quality of service, and teamwork. Maintains confidentiality of patient and affiliate information in accordance with the facility and affiliate policies and procedures. Other duties as assigned. The facility is a technology driven organization and employees need to demonstrate competency in Microsoft® Windows. An employee may be required to participate in further learning opportunities offered by the facility.PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief and death. Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position. Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description. Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s). Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching. Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. Must follow the facility bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required. Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake. Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling. May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis.Physical Demand Level:
Medium. Must be able to occasionally (0-33% of the workday) lift or carry 21-50 lbs., frequently 34-66% of the workday 20 lbs. and or Walk/Stand/Push/Pull of Arm/Leg controls and constantly (67-100% or the workday) 10 lbs.Values:
