SPECIAL EDUCATION
vacancy for the 2026-2027 school year in the Rochester Community Schools. Applications will be accepted until filled. Occupational Therapist 1.0 FTE (5 days per week) Districtwide
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors of Science Degree and Certificate in occupational therapy. License from state of Michigan to practice occupational therapy. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and governmental regulations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from students, staff, and parents. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

JOB DESCRIPTION
REPORTS TO:
Executive Director of Special Education, Special Education Supervisor of Post-Secondary & Basic Programs
JOB GOAL
To evaluation students to determine their functional levels and identify special needs, and to plan and implement therapeutic activities.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Works with school team in planning and implementing activities to assist students eligible for special education in benefiting from their educational experience. Evaluates students' educational needs and uses the findings to develop an Individualized Education Program (IEP). Screens and evaluates students to determine special education eligibility and develop IEP's. Plans therapy intervention programs to support specific educational activities of students. Provides training to appropriate persons to carry out therapy goals in the school setting. Arranges for appropriate equipment, adaptation, fabrication, and repair; arranges for appropriate room set-up. Functions as a team member for METs and IEPs, and maintains contact with school, family, medical personnel, and other appropriate agencies. Problem solves to meet student's ever-changing needs. Establishes and maintains appropriate records, reports, and procedures. Performs other duties as assigned by the Administrators.
