13 weeks Travel Occupational Therapist job duties While job duties may vary depending on the facility you work with, here are some common Travel OT responsibilities:- Assess patients' physical, mental, and emotional conditions to determine their needs and develop personalized treatment plans.
- Design and implement therapeutic activities to help patients improve their ability to perform daily tasks and achieve greater independence.
- Evaluate patients' progress regularly, adjusting treatment plans as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Educate patients and their families on exercises and techniques to continue therapy at home and promote long-term health and well-being.
- Use adaptive equipment and assistive devices to aid patients in performing tasks and enhancing their quality of life.
- Document patients' medical histories, assessments, treatment plans, and progress accurately and promptly in electronic health records.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses, and physical therapists, to provide comprehensive care for patients.
- Develop and conduct patient and family education programs to improve understanding of conditions and the importance of occupational therapy.
- Advise on home modifications and workplace adaptations to accommodate patients' needs and ensure a safe environment.
- Provide emotional support and encouragement to patients and their families throughout the rehabilitation process.
- Participate in continuing education and professional development to stay current with advancements in occupational therapy practices.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, policies, and ethical standards in all aspects of occupational therapy practice.
- Conduct ergonomic assessments and recommend adjustments to prevent injury and improve performance in various settings.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment by adhering to infection control protocols and safety guidelines.
- Supervise and mentor occupational therapy assistants and students, providing guidance and support in their professional development.
