Key Responsibilities:
Patient Evaluation & Treatment Planning Conduct thorough patient evaluations based on physician referrals. Develop individualized treatment plans with functional, goal-based outcomes. Ensure treatment plans are reviewed and approved by referring physicians. Hands-On Occupational Therapy Provide direct therapy to help patients regain functional independence in daily activities. Implement therapeutic interventions to improve strength, coordination, and mobility. Train patients in self-care tasks such as dressing, grooming, eating, and bathing. Recommend and train patients on the use of assistive devices and adaptive equipment. Develop and implement home exercise programs for continued recovery. Collaboration & Communication Work closely with nursing staff, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams. Educate caregivers and family members on patient needs and progress. Participate in discharge planning to ensure successful patient transitions. Communicate patient status, progress, and concerns to the rehab team. Documentation & Compliance Maintain accurate and timely documentation of evaluations, treatment plans, and progress notes. Ensure compliance with Medicare and other reimbursement regulations. Record daily treatment charges per approved billing guidelines. Supervision & Leadership Supervise Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) and therapy students. Conduct in-services and training for staff on restorative techniques and therapy programs. Participate in performance improvement programs and facility meetings as needed.
