Job Description

Atlantic Health is seeking a skilled and compassionate Per Diem Occupational Therapist to join our Acute Care team at both Hackettstown and Newton Medical Centers. The clinician in this role will work with adult and older adult patients presenting with a wide range of medical, surgical, orthopedic, and neurological conditions. This flexible per diem position is ideal for an experienced OT who enjoys fast‑paced clinical environments and values collaborative, patient-centered care. Responsibilities Perform comprehensive occupational therapy evaluations for adult acute care patients, including assessment of functional mobility, ADLs, cognition, vision, and safety. Develop and implement individualized, evidence‑based treatment plans to promote independence, recovery, and successful discharge planning. Deliver interventions focused on ADL retraining, functional mobility, cognitive/visual-perceptual skills, therapeutic exercise, and caregiver education. Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary team members, including PT, SLP, nursing, case management, and physicians. Document evaluations, daily notes, and discharge recommendations in accordance with professional standards and facility policies. Current NJ state licensure as an Occupational Therapist (OTR/L), required. Current BLS/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain prior to start) required. Prior experience in acute care strongly preferred; comfort with medically complex adult patients. Excellent communication, clinical reasoning, and time‑management skills.
