Job Description

Category Schools - OT Job Type Contract Make a meaningful impact supporting students in a dynamic school-based environment just outside beautiful Carlsbad, NM. This contract opportunity is ideal for an experienced Occupational Therapist seeking to collaborate with both educators and families to optimize student engagement and participation in academic and daily activities.
Key Qualifications & Experience:
Valid Occupational Therapist (OT) license in the state of New Mexico (or eligibility to obtain) Previous experience in school settings preferred Familiarity with IEP processes and documentation Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams Compassionate, patient, and dedicated to student success across diverse populations
Primary Responsibilities:
Assess students' functional abilities and develop targeted intervention strategies Implement individualized and group therapy plans to support academic access, fine motor skills, sensory processing, self-care, and behavior management Participate in IEP meetings and maintain accurate, timely records as required by district and state standards Consult with teachers, staff, and families to facilitate carryover of strategies within classroom and home environments Monitor and document progress, adjusting interventions as necessary to promote optimal outcomes Serve as a trusted resource, providing guidance on adaptive equipment and classroom modifications when needed Enjoy the unique rewards of fostering growth and independence in students while working in an engaging, supportive educational community.
