Job Description

On our team, you will provide stellar care at one of the top healthcare organizations in the nation. As an Occupational Therapist supporting both Avon Hospital and Clinic Fairview Hospital, you will provide comprehensive services to help patients regain their ability to perform daily activities, self-care, and essential responsibilities. In this role, you will work within an acute care team to support patients recovering from illnesses, trauma, or surgery, including strokes, fractures, and total joint replacements, by improving functional independence and preparing them safely for discharge. You will focus on maximizing treatment outcomes and helping patients relearn the skills needed to lead independent, productive, and fulfilling lives. A caregiver in this role works days from 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., with a minimum of two weekend shifts per month and required holiday coverage. This position is required to provide coverage for both Avon Hospital and Fairview Hospital. A caregiver who excels in this role will: Evaluate and treat patients with physical, emotional, cognitive and/or psychosocial deficits which impact their abilities to successfully perform independent living skills. Assess patient's ability to safely and effectively perform independent living skills. Design the appropriate plan of care, including type and frequency of treatment. Implement the treatment plan using appropriate modalities. Document subjective and objective findings of patient progress. Monitor and modify the plan of care as needed. Seek consultation as necessary. Educate the patient and family/caregiver about patient deficits. Plan and/or assist with patient discharge from therapy services and treatment setting. Provide information regarding appropriate selection/use of adaptive equipment and support programs. Oversee the care provided by certified occupational therapy assistants and therapy technicians according to established licensing laws, state regulations and OT practice standards. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Bachelor's Degree Graduate of an Occupational Therapy Program accredited by the American Occupational Therapy Association Current Ohio licensure as an Occupational Therapist (OT) Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Experience in a clinical area
Physical Requirements:
Ability to walk without assistive device and to maintain balance despite sudden load in order to support patient from falling. Ability to meet physical demands characterized at the heavy level defined by 1993 Leonard Matheson and Ministry of Labor. Ability to lift and reach with arms sufficiently to lift patient's arm and leg during therapeutic treatment program. Sensation of touch and manual dexterity to be able to palpate muscle tension or to monitor patient pulse. Visual acuity to observe patient's gross and fine motor movements in order to analyze these movements and to read all patient monitors. Ability to speak clearly enough to instruct patients and families. Ability to hear at a conversational level to understand patient's description of symptoms and response to treatment.Personal Protective Equipment:
