Job Description

General Purpose:
Under indirect supervision, provides rehabilitative and developmental therapy and support services for residents. Directs resident participation in selected tasks to restore, reinforce, and enhance performance; facilitates the learning of skills and functions essential for adaptation and productivity, diminish or correct pathology, and promote and maintain health. Essential Job Functions This facility expects their associates to promote an atmosphere of teamwork with other associates and hospitality and comfort for its residents. Therefore, the following list of duties is not all-inclusive: Tests and evaluates residents for therapy and support needs; assesses availability of in-clinic or on-site facilities, equipment, and/or services. Plans, organizes, and conducts occupational therapy programs designed to help residents regain physical or mental functioning or to adjust to their disabilities. Treats, educates, and counsels residents and families as appropriate regarding specific physical, mental, and/or developmental disabilities. Monitors resident progress throughout treatment; prepares and maintains records and reports as appropriate, ensuring adherence to procedural safeguards and confidentiality requirements. Participates in training medical and nursing personnel in occupational therapy techniques and objectives. Conduct and document a thorough functional assessment of the resident, utilizing standardized procedures. Assessment of home/vocational and equipment needs. Protect residents from neglect, mistreatment, and abuse. Supervise COTA(s) per state guidelines.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy Current license in state of practice. Certification, if applicable, and demonstrated competency in identified areas of specialization. Organized and detailed in work performance. Good communication skills with excellent self-discipline and patience. Genuine caring for and interest in elderly and disabled people in a nursing facility.
