The Rehabilitation Department provides therapy and nursing services to patients, families and patient's caregivers including: Rehabilitation Nursing Care, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech Language Pathology. Our department operates as a system department and provides services to Acute Care, Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility, Home Health and Outpatient settings across four campuses. Our Rehabilitation departments offer a variety of specialty services across the various services delivery areas.POSITION OVERVIEW
The Occupational Therapistevaluates, plans, and provides treatment and rehabilitation as prescribed by a referring physician. Works with family and team members regarding patient's abilities and goals. This position does not directly manage any other caregivers.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Adheres to Oregon State Occupational Therapy Licensing Board. Provides occupational therapy evaluation and treatment to achieve desired outcomes. Provides staff consultation and training. Provides community resource knowledge and referral services. Provides occupational therapy services to other hospital service areas. May be required to drive Rehabilitation van and meet all related SCHS vehicle policy requirements. Functions as a member of the Interdisciplinary Care Team to assure patient care is accomplished effectively and efficiently in a cost effective manner. Participates in clinical care conferencing. Gathers data and accurately documents information in a timely manner demonstrating compliance with departmental and professional regulations. Participates with team members in facilitating patient's and family's learning throughout the continuum of care. Reinforces patient's continued health care through teaching and/or referral to community agency follow-up. Supports the vision, mission and values of the organization in all respects. Supports Lean principles of continuous improvement with energy and enthusiasm, functioning as a champion of change. Provides and maintains a safe environment for caregivers, patients and guests. Conducts all activities with the highest standards of professionalism and confidentiality. Complies with all applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures, supporting the organization's corporate integrity efforts by acting in an ethical and appropriate manner, reporting known or suspected violation of applicable rules, and cooperating fully with all organizational investigations and proceedings. May perform additional duties of similar complexity within the organization, as required or assigned.EDUCATION
Required:
Bachelors, Masters, or Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy from a college or university accredited by theAmerican Occupational Therapy Association Preferred:

Required:
Must have necessary requisites for licensure as an Occupational Therapist by the Oregon State Board of Health. Valid Oregon drivers license and ability to meet St. Charles Health System driving requirements. Ability to travel to business functions/trainings/meetings and all St. Charles Health System worksites. Current AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider certification.Preferred:

Required:
Must have one year of experience with therapy procedures, current orthopedic and neurological follow-up procedures, and rehabilitation practices.Preferred:
Previous occupational therapy experience in a hospital based setting.PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT

Frequently (50%): Sitting, lifting/carrying/pushing or pulling 1-25 pounds. The use and operation of a motor vehicle for Home Health and Wound Caregivers. Occasionally (25%): Bending, stooping/kneeling/crouching, climbing ladder/step-stool (varies by area), reaching overhead, lifting/carrying/pushing or pulling 25-50 pounds, grasping/squeezing, abilityto hear whispered speech level. Rarely (10%): Climbing stairs. Never (0%): Climbing ladder/step-stool (varies by area), operation of a motor vehicle. Exposure to Elemental Factors Rarely (10%): Wet/slippery area, chemical solution.
