Provide occupation therapy and prescribed treatments, parent interviews, and consultations to staff and community agencies in the field of occupational therapy with respect to the needs of disabled children.
Job Summary:
Assesses, through a variety of testing procedures, the present functioning level of the child. Participates in evaluations. Contacts parents and/or participates to advise of functioning level of the child and needs for further services. Works closely with teachers in developing IEPs for the child and monitors the child's progress.
Qualifications:
Valid PA Certificate in the area of Occupational Therapy; at least a Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited college or university; knowledge of federal and state Occupational Therapy regulations; knowledge of the computer and computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and the Internet; and, excellent oral an written communication skills.
Working Conditions:
Mainly inside year round - classroom setting with special equipment and devices for disabled students.
Physical demands include:
sitting at desk for short periods of time, standing for most of the work day, frequent walking, bending, stooping, twisting, reaching and grasping, heavy lifting up to 50 pounds assisting disabled students, some carrying up to 50 pounds, some application of physical restraint to students, manual dexterity to handle augmentative devices, repetitive movement of fingers and hands for keyboarding and considerable physical stamina for a demanding role in the classroom.
