Job Description

Category Schools - Orientation and Mobility Specialist Job Type Contract A certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist is needed to support students in a school setting located in West Chester, PA. This contract position offers a consistent schedule of 32.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 3:15 PM. The ideal candidate will hold a valid Certificate of Orientation and Mobility in Pennsylvania and be able to begin working as soon as possible or by August 2026.
Key Responsibilities:
Assess and provide instruction to students with visual impairments to develop independent travel skills. Collaborate with educational staff and families to create tailored mobility plans. Conduct ongoing evaluations to monitor student progress and adjust strategies accordingly. Implement safe and effective orientation techniques within various school and community environments. Maintain thorough documentation of student goals, progress, and service delivery.
Qualifications and Experience:
Certificate of Orientation and Mobility required for Pennsylvania. Proven experience as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist working with children in educational settings. Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with staff, students, and families. Ability to deliver individualized mobility instruction using current techniques and tools. Commitment to promoting independence and confidence in students with visual impairments.
Location and Schedule:
West Chester, PA. Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 3:15 PM, totaling 32.5 hours weekly. Contract position.
