Job Description

Hey guys :) A note
  • I am a solo SPED Professor/mom and opening a team-based play clinic model in Madison off Hughes Road. Parents in the area are in major need of ABA services from places that are consistent, have dependable clinicians, and from a place that can serve multiple therapies. The commute all over Huntsville is killing parents. Our waitlist
  • for this model
  • is over 200 people. We haven't even opened. We will start intentionally and grow intentionally. Business-model is not my jam nor my expertise. Student need
  • based, play, meeting family needs with consistent schedules and group experiences are our focus.
Because of this, we will have consistent schedules of group therapies (examples: summer we have "camp" themed groups for a few hours, where clients get related services during their scheduled visits, as well as educational therapies that will be led by clinicians or therapists. ABA will be served in individual formats, but in the scope of inclusivity and proximity and engagement with peers. I want to emphasize that we have a shared play space, art rooms, etc. to make inclusion and being with peers a major part of our therapies. Isolating kids in DTT-style closed off rooms is not our starting point or even a service where most of our clients will. Schedules for OTs can be flexible
  • based around what you'd like to do.
We have more than enough clients for you, but will hire additional OTs if you want more work. About Wildflower Wonders, LLC Wildflower Wonders is a brand-new, thoughtfully designed, start-up therapy practice created to meet the growing needs of families in the East Limestone community. We will open our physical facility in May in the Madison area, with opportunities to begin serving families through home-based and community services prior to opening. Our vision is a space that feels different the moment you walk in — featuring a large indoor play gym, outdoor play areas, and environments intentionally designed to support regulation, play, connection, and child-led interests . We will offer ABA, Speech, and Occupational Therapy , with plans to expand into Music Therapy and Play Therapy as we grow. Children served at Wildflower Wonders participate in coordinated, wraparound care . Our clinicians collaborate closely across disciplines to support the whole child and family — which means we value practitioners who want to be part of a connected, respectful, and supportive team , not siloed providers. We are especially excited to offer summer camps and after-school play groups that center joy, belonging, and authentic connection for our neurodivergent community. Wildflower Wonders is deeply personal to me. I am a professor of Special Education and the parent of a daughter with autism. This practice grew from both professional expertise and lived experience. While we are building a business, our emphasis is — and will remain — community first . This was created out of a real need to reduce the burden on families who are currently driving hundreds of miles each week to access services. Because we are launching intentionally and sustainably, we are looking for clinicians who value flexibility, collaboration, and shared ownership in the early stages. In return, early team members will have a meaningful voice in shaping systems, selecting software and materials, and setting clinical and cultural precedents that will last. Our waitlist is already substantial. We will prioritize serving families who use Medicaid , and will expand access further as BCBS and TriCare credentialing are finalized. If you are looking for a workplace where your voice matters, your values align, and your work truly impacts families — we would love to build this with you. Special Note If you are currently a school-based OT or otherwise seeking summer-only work, we are happy to consider applications for summer positions, camps, and short-term support needs.
Position Overview:
Occupational Therapist Wildflower Wonders is seeking a licensed Occupational Therapist (OTR/L or COTA under supervision, as applicable) who values flexibility, clinical autonomy, and neurodiversity-affirming, sensory-informed care . This role is ideal for an OT who enjoys play-based therapy , understands sensory processing differences, and wants to be part of a collaborative, interdisciplinary team from the ground up. Why Wildflower Wonders? We believe clinicians do their best work when they feel valued, fairly compensated, and trusted. Flexibility is foundational here — not an afterthought. Full-time, part-time, contract, or summer-only options available Create your own schedule (school-day hours, extended hours, or hybrid) Clinic-based, community-based, or mixed caseloads Thoughtful, manageable caseloads as we grow Consistent scheduling to support families and clinician sustainability Leadership that listens and adapts Our goal is to build a loyal, long-term OT team , not cycle through clinicians. Having said that, as we start and have high summer numbers, we are considering summer positions as well. Our Clinical Philosophy Neurodiversity-affirming and strengths-based Play-based and child-led whenever possible Sensory-informed, regulation-focused interventions No compliance-based or "fix the child" approaches Respect for autonomy, dignity, and nervous systems Clinical judgment is valued — no micromanagement Position Responsibilities Evaluate and treat pediatric occupational therapy needs Develop and implement individualized, functional treatment plans Design and support sensory diets across home, clinic, and school contexts Collaborate closely with families and interdisciplinary team members (ABA, SLP, etc.) Support regulation, participation, and meaningful daily activities Maintain documentation ethically and efficiently Sensory Experience
  • Preferred We strongly prefer candidates with experience or training in: Sensory processing differences Sensory integration approaches Developing and implementing sensory diets Supporting self-regulation across environments Formal certification is welcome but not required — clinical experience and philosophy matter more.
What We Offer Competitive pay , based on experience and role Flexible scheduling and caseload options Paid documentation time as feasible Supportive onboarding and collaboration time License reimbursement opportunities Professional development assistance Opportunities for leadership and program development as we grow A leadership team focused on sustainability and work-life balance We are upfront: we are a growing practice — but we are growing intentionally , with clinician wellbeing at the center. Who You Might Be Licensed OT (OTR/L) or COTA (licensed or eligible in Alabama) Passionate about sensory-informed, neuro-affirming care Enjoys interdisciplinary collaboration Values autonomy and flexibility Comfortable with evolving systems in a start-up environment Possibly a parent practitioner seeking flexible scheduling If you are looking for a rigid, productivity-driven therapy model, this likely won't be the right fit — and that's okay. If you are looking for a place where your voice matters and your work truly supports children and families, we would love to talk.
