00 This is a school-based Travel Occupational Therapist opportunity in a welcoming K-12 public school setting located in Bennettsville, South Carolina. As the OT for this assignment, you will support students' functional participation in the school day while enjoying the charm and character of a historic Southern community. Bennettsville is nestled in the Pee Dee region of northeastern South Carolina, an area known for its rich history, tree-lined streets, and relaxed pace of life. The town features historic architecture, a classic downtown with local shops and eateries, and easy access to nature. In your free time you can explore nearby parks, walking paths, and rivers, or take short drives to other destinations in the Pee Dee region to enjoy cultural events, museums, and outdoor recreation. The area offers a friendly, close-knit atmosphere that makes it easy for travelers to feel at home while still being within reach of larger cities for weekend trips. Within the school district, you will join a collaborative educational and related services team dedicated to helping students succeed academically and functionally. The environment is supportive and student-centered, offering a meaningful setting for therapists who enjoy making a visible impact in children's daily lives. This assignment is ideal for an OT interested in strengthening or expanding their school-based and pediatric experience while working with a broad range of ages and needs. This position is a full-time role with an expected 37.5 hours per week. The schedule follows a traditional Monday through Friday school-day format. Candidates will only be paid for hours actually worked; there is no pay for school holidays, scheduled school closures (such as teacher workdays), or closures due to inclement weather. The calendar follows a typical school-year rhythm, allowing you to enjoy built-in school breaks and an organized, predictable weekly routine. You will be working with a K-12 caseload, providing services across elementary, middle, and high school settings as assigned.
Your typical day may include:
Conducting OT evaluations to assess students' fine motor, visual-motor, sensory processing, and functional school skills Developing and implementing individualized treatment plans aligned with educational goals Delivering direct and consultative therapy services in classrooms, therapy rooms, and other school environments Collaborating with teachers, special educators, speech therapists, physical therapists, and support staff to integrate OT strategies into the classroom Participating in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team discussions to support student progress and goal development Documenting services, progress notes, and assessments in a timely and accurate manner in accordance with district procedures Providing recommendations for classroom accommodations, equipment, and task modifications to maximize student independence Educating staff and families on strategies to support students' functional performance in the school setting The caseload will consist of students with a variety of needs, such as developmental delays, autism spectrum disorders, fine motor and handwriting challenges, sensory processing differences, and other conditions that affect participation in school routines. You will have the opportunity to see diverse diagnoses and service needs, making this a strong resume-building role for therapists interested in pediatric and school-based specialization. The school environment emphasizes collaboration, communication, and a shared commitment to student success. Travelers often appreciate the chance to integrate into a close-knit staff team while also bringing fresh perspectives and best practices from other settings. This assignment can support your professional growth through experience with IEP processes, educational law, and interdisciplinary teamwork, all while working in a community that values its schools and families. This travel OT position in Bennettsville offers a balanced mix of professional challenge and personal quality of life: a manageable commute within a smaller town, a welcoming local culture, and convenient access to the broader Pee Dee region's history, arts, and outdoor activities.
