Job Description

Category Schools - OT Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding contract position dedicated to supporting students as a full-time Occupational Therapist for the entire school year. This opportunity invites you to collaborate with educators and families near Chesapeake, VA, positively impacting the lives of children with autism. Your expertise will help students access their education, build essential life skills, and thrive in a nurturing, inclusive environment.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program Active state Occupational Therapy license (or eligibility to obtain) Previous experience working in a school setting is highly valued Demonstrated ability to support students with autism Familiarity with IEP development, implementation, and data tracking Excellent communication skills, both with students and multidisciplinary teams Strong organizational skills to manage caseload and documentation
Responsibilities:
Conduct assessments and develop individualized plans to address the unique needs of students with autism Deliver occupational therapy services in both one-on-one and group settings Collaborate closely with teachers, aides, and parents to adapt classroom environments and optimize student participation Monitor progress, maintain accurate records, and participate in IEP meetings Provide training and resources for school staff to carry over strategies across settings Foster a positive, patient, and supportive atmosphere conducive to student growth
