Category Schools - OT Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting elementary students as an Occupational Therapist in a school-based setting on a contract assignment running from August 3, 2026, through May 28, 2027. This full-time role is set near Salem, VA, with workdays Monday through Friday, totaling 35 hours per week. Caseload specifics are still being refined, but will likely include a combination of general education and special education students across Pre-K through 5th grade. Students may be in self-contained classrooms, including those with autism or adaptive needs, offering you the chance to make a real difference across a diverse range of abilities.
Key Qualifications:
State licensure to practice as an Occupational Therapist
Experience working in school-based or pediatric OT preferred
Comfort providing support for both general ed and special education populations
Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills
Flexibility and collaboration in a multidisciplinary team setting
Ability to tailor interventions for individuals and small groups
What You'll Do:
Conduct assessments and develop individualized treatment plans for students
Deliver direct therapy services and consult with educational staff
Document progress, maintain compliance, and communicate with families
Participate in meetings, collaborate on IEPs, and adapt strategies as needed
Support student access to curriculum and school routines
