Location BMH Bronson Methodist Hospital Title Rehabilitation Intern (Summer Internship) - Acute Care, Bronson Methodist Hospital, Kalamazoo Why This Role If you're looking for a fast-paced, hands-on introduction to rehabilitation, acute care is where it all begins. As a Rehabilitation Intern at Bronson Methodist Hospital, you'll work alongside therapy teams in a hospital setting, supporting patients at some of the most critical points in their recovery. From early mobility to discharge planning, you'll gain insight into how rehabilitation plays a vital role in patient outcomes from day one. What's In It for You Full-time, structured day shift summer experience Direct exposure to hospital-based rehabilitation (acute care) Opportunity to work closely with Physical and Occupational Therapists Experience with patient mobility, early intervention, and discharge progression Exposure to a medically complex and diverse patient population Insight into interdisciplinary collaboration within a hospital setting Mentorship from experienced rehab professionals A strong foundation for future PT, OT, or healthcare program applications What You'll Be Doing Support therapists with non-billable patient care activities in an acute care setting Assist with patient mobility, including safe transfers, positioning, and transport Help facilitate therapeutic exercises under therapist supervision Observe evaluations, treatment planning, and interdisciplinary collaboration Assist with co-treatments requiring additional support Document exercises and interactions in the electronic medical record (as appropriate) Maintain a clean, safe, and organized clinical environment Support unit operations including stocking supplies and preparing equipment Provide excellent service to patients, families, and care team members Assist with administrative tasks such as answering phones and supporting workflow What You'll Bring Interest in pursuing a career in rehabilitation or healthcare Comfort working in a fast-paced, hospital environment Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to follow direction and support therapist-led care plans A team-first mindset with professionalism and empathy Reliability, adaptability, and strong work ethic Willingness to work with medically complex patients across all age groups What to Expect This is a high-energy, full-time day shift internship in a hospital setting. You'll spend your days actively supporting therapists and learning how rehabilitation integrates into acute medical care. Expect to be on your feet, adapting quickly, and gaining exposure to a variety of patient conditions and care needs. This experience is ideal for individuals who want a realistic, behind-the-scenes look at hospital-based rehabilitation and thrive in a dynamic environment.
