JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The incumbent shall be responsible for aiding and assisting licensed therapists, the cardiac rehab team and other staff in the provision of rehabilitation services. The Rehab Aide participates in operational aspects such as department cleanliness, appropriate stocking of supplies, patient transport, and assisting therapy staff in safe patient care. The incumbent shall also be responsible for providing secretarial support to all rehab staff. The incumbent shall demonstrate accountability for and contribution to development of departmental initiatives, insurance verification, quality improvement, problem solving, and productivity enhancement in a flexible fashion.
EDUCATION
The incumbent shall, at a minimum, have a high school diploma or equivalent GED. Possessing excellent people skills is necessary. Computer skills required. Experience working in healthcare/patient care preferred. The incumbent must currently be enrolled in a physical or occupational therapy accredited college or university. Prior coursework or experience in Occupational or Physical therapy program preferred.
EXPERIENCE
Education/experience in working with patients or customers throughout their lifespan.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Communicate and demonstrate an appropriate image/attitude with exceptional customer/client satisfaction with patients, families, clients, coworkers, and others. Able to adjust personal schedule to meet the needs of the unit when needed. Protects patient confidentiality at all times. 2. Maintain cleanliness of department including but not limited to preparing and cleaning high-low tables, plinths, and all exercise equipment with appropriate logging of cleaning information. Maintain waiting room and all treatment areas regarding general appearance and overall orderliness of the department. 3. May assist with coordinating therapist schedules to insure appropriate caseloads. Schedule patients according to his/her individual needs while providing ample treatment time for providing therapist. 4. Assist with calls and messages entering the rehabilitation department. Coordinate all incoming and outgoing mail for the rehabilitation department. 5. May assist with insurance verification, precertification's and authorizations with appropriate documentation in notes. Complete registration process for all rehabilitation and cardiac rehab patients. 6. Manage supply inventory and order departmental supplies as needed as well as monitoring linen supplies while restocking daily. 7. Assists therapists with treatments as needed and requested according to state guidelines and entity policy. 8. Attends departmental in-service sessions and meetings as scheduled. Maintains competency/skills including annual mandatory in-services annually. Adheres to safety standards for staff and patients and encourages compliance by others. Applicable certifications are current. 9. Assist with Focus on Therapeutic Outcome set up process for intakes, status' and staff discharges as well as Medbridge set up and administration of Patient Reported Outcomes. 10. Adheres to and is familiar with policies and practices of entity facilities. Demonstrates behaviors and actions that are consistent with Guthrie's principles and values. Adhere to policies and practices of applicable federal and state guidelines, professional organizations, entity facilities and entity specific policies. Is familiar with and acts according to contents of employee/handbook, unit Policy & Procedure and organizational policies. #
