We are a Special Education Day School Program servicing students with ASD! Located in North Providence, RI, our 12 month school program provides special education to students residing in Rhode Island. The job duties of our school COTA's may include the following: A Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) at OSALC works with students and school staff to improve student functioning and access to learning.

Their responsibilities may include:

Adapting the environmentModifying classroom tools, materials, and the environment to meet student needs and abilitiesAssessing studentsAssisting the Occupational Therapist (OTR) in evaluating students' fine and gross motor skills, sensory integration, and other developmental skillsProviding servicesOffering occupational therapy services directly to students or through consultation to address IEP goalsPromoting independenceHelping students develop daily living skills, such as self-care and moving from a bed to a wheelchairRecommending equipmentSuggesting assistive devices and equipment to increase student functioningMaintaining recordsKeeping daily records of treatments and progress notes, and helping maintain student recordsOrganizing activitiesArranging furniture and displaying materials to support instruction, and creating a clean and orderly learning environmentManaging behaviorImplementing behavior management programs and reporting student behavior to the OTRConsulting with othersCollaborating with the OTR and educational team, and consulting with teachers, parents, and school staffComplying with regulationsFollowing local, state, and federal regulations regarding confidentiality, due process, and other procedures
