Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant 4602 Northgate Court, Sarasota, FL 34234 Full-time Full-time Overview Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA), where you will play a vital role in helping patients regain independence and improve their quality of life. In this energetic and rewarding position, you will work closely with licensed occupational therapists to implement personalized care plans across diverse settings. Your expertise will directly impact patient recovery journeys, fostering a supportive and motivating atmosphere that encourages progress and well-being. Responsibilities Assist patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as dressing, grooming, and mobility to promote independence. Support the development and execution of individualized care plans tailored to each patient's needs and goals. Provide therapy interventions in a skilled nursing facility Apply your knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology to accurately document patient progress and communicate effectively with the healthcare team. Contribute to patient care by helping with therapeutic exercises, adaptive equipment training, and functional activities. Educate patients and their families on techniques to enhance safety and independence at home or in daily routines. Maintain compliance with healthcare regulations and uphold high standards of patient safety and confidentiality. Requirements Valid certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) from an accredited program. Prior experience in skilled nursing facilities is highly preferred. Strong knowledge of occupational health principles, medical imaging procedures, pediatrics, geriatrics, and acute care environments. Familiarity with care planning processes and experience assisting with ADLs across diverse patient populations. Excellent understanding of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and occupational therapy techniques. Ability to work effectively in inpatient or outpatient settings while demonstrating compassion and professionalism. Strong communication skills to collaborate seamlessly with multidisciplinary teams and engage patients effectively.
