Position Overview:
The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) supports the delivery of high-quality rehabilitative care under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist. This role focuses on implementing individualized treatment plans that enhance residents' ability to perform activities of daily living (ADLs), improve functional mobility, and foster greater independence. The COTA works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary care team to ensure consistent, resident-centered therapy. A strong foundation in geriatric rehabilitation, attention to detail, and a compassionate approach are essential to promote optimal outcomes and quality of life for residents.Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Support and Treatment Implementation Deliver occupational therapy interventions as outlined in the treatment plan developed by the supervising Occupational Therapist. Assist residents with therapeutic exercises and functional activities aimed at improving independence in activities of daily living (ADLs) and mobility. Monitor resident responses during treatment sessions and communicate progress, concerns, or changes to the Occupational Therapist. Support the use of adaptive equipment and provide instruction to residents and caregivers to promote safe and effective use. Maintain a safe, supportive, and engaging therapeutic environment that fosters resident participation and comfort. Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and contribute to care planning discussions to ensure coordinated, resident-centered care. Documentation and Compliance Accurately document treatment sessions, resident progress, and observations in accordance with facility policies and state and federal regulations. Adhere to HIPAA guidelines, infection control protocols, and OSHA standards to ensure regulatory compliance and resident safety. Collaboration and Operational Support Maintain open communication with the supervising Occupational Therapist and interdisciplinary care team to support continuity of care. Assist in the upkeep and organization of therapy supplies and equipment to ensure readiness and efficiency in service delivery. Education Associate's degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program Current state licensure as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) Experience 1-2 years of experience in a skilled nursing facility or geriatric care setting preferred Familiarity with PDPM and SNF documentation standards is a plus Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Solid understanding of occupational therapy principles and treatment techniques Ability to implement therapy plans under the direction of a licensed Occupational Therapist Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with residents, families, and team members Detail-oriented with strong documentation and organizational skills Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and infection control standards Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and basic computer applications Ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary care team Compassionate, resident-centered approach to care deliveryMajestic Difference Benefits:
