FTE Job Summary:
Provides treatment for patients with physical, emotional, cognitive, and/or psychosocial deficits which impact their abilities to successfully perform independent living skills.
Job Responsibilities:
Implements an established treatment plan using appropriate modalities. Documents subjective and objective findings of patient progress. Seeks consultation as necessary. Monitors patient's responses to the treatment plan. Regularly communicates patient progress and possible goal revisions to registered occupational therapist. Educates the patient and family/caregiver about patient deficits. Assists with patient discharge planning. Provides information regarding appropriate selection/use of adaptive equipment and community support programs. Oversees the care provided by therapy technicians according to established licensing laws, state regulations, and OT practice standards. Supervises OTA students completing clinical rotations.
Skills and Attributes:
Requires critical thinking skills and decisive judgment. Works under direct supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Position Requirements:
Work Experience No experience required Education Associate's degree or higher in Occupational Therapy Assistant required upon hire Licensure/Certification/Registration OTA•Licensed as an Occupational Therapy Assistant in the state of Kentucky required upon hire AND BLS•Certified as a Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider required within 90 days of employment in this position
