Job Description

HEROES Physical Therapy is a small but mighty pediatric clinic in Allegan, MI, and we're looking for a Pediatric Occupational Therapist or COTA who wants to make a real difference in the lives of kids and families. We work with children with a wide range of developmental and mobility needs, and we believe in creating a space where they feel supported, seen, and capable of doing incredible things. If you're someone who lights up when a child masters a new skill, or you love partnering with families to help them feel confident and empowered, you'll fit right in here. About Us We're a family-centered practice with a mission to give children the tools they need to participate more fully in their everyday lives. We take time with our families, we celebrate every little win, and we believe deeply in meeting each child where they are. We also value kindness, collaboration, and treating each family like they matter — because they do. We're growing, and we're looking for someone who wants to grow with us. What You'll Be Doing This role is hands-on, creative, and incredibly rewarding. Your week may include things like: Supporting children in sensory integration, reflex integration mobility development and fine motor skills using a variety of fun, movement-based activities. Incorporating Dynamic Movement Intervention (DMI) into sessions — or learning it if you haven't used it yet. Incorporating TASES, whole body vibration and other modalities into sessions Completing wheelchair sitting evaluations, helping families understand how proper positioning can impact their child's comfort, function, and overall mobility. Conducting durable medical equipment evaluations, including seating and mobility devices, and working with vendors when needed. Coaching families so they feel confident continuing strategies at home — always keeping parents at the center of the process. Working closely with a small team that values communication, respect, and showing up for each other. Celebrating progress, no matter how big or small. Who We're Hoping to Find We're looking for someone who cares deeply about kids and wants to build relationships with the families we serve. Someone who is curious, thoughtful, and not afraid to get on the floor, climb into equipment, or learn something new. You'll be a great fit if you: Are a licensed OT or COTA in Michigan (or in the process). Enjoy working with children of all abilities and energy levels. Have an interest in DMI, or experience with it — we're happy to support additional training. Are comfortable with (or open to learning) wheelchair seating and DME evaluations. Communicate with families in an honest, warm, and supportive way. Love problem-solving and finding creative solutions. Are looking for a role that starts part-time but has the potential to expand as our clinic continues to grow. Want to work somewhere where your voice matters and your ideas are welcome. New grads are absolutely welcome — especially those excited about pediatrics. What We Can Offer You Working with us means joining a team that is genuinely committed to your growth just as much as the growth of the children we serve. You'll find: Flexible part-time hours that can increase as your caseload grows. A supportive team open to mentoring, training, and helping you build skills in DMI, adaptive equipment, and pediatric mobility. A warm, family-focused environment where we celebrate wins together. Space to bring your creativity and personality into your sessions. A chance to build meaningful relationships with families who truly appreciate the care you provide. The opportunity to be part of a clinic that values quality over quantity — we don't rush our sessions or overload our staff. Education and Experience Master's or Doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program OR Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) with an Associate degree from an accredited program Current Michigan Occupational Therapist license (or eligibility for licensure). Pediatric experience is preferred but new graduates with strong interest in pediatrics are highly encouraged to apply. Experience with Dynamic Movement Intervention (DMI), sensory integration, or pediatric mobility is helpful but not required — training and mentorship are available. Experience with wheelchair seating or durable medical equipment assessments is a plus but not required; willingness to learn is essential.
