The occupational therapist assistant implements selected components of the therapeutic interventions and activities of daily living, obtains data related to the interventions provided, and makes modifications in selected interventions either to progress the patient as directed by the occupational therapist or to ensure patient's safety and comfort. This may include adaptation or modification of the environment or objects within the environment to facilitate engagement and participation.
Primary Responsibilities:
Implements the individualized plan of care as established by the occupational therapist. Adjusts treatment interventions in response to patient feedback, objective data and observation within the established plan of care. Identifies need for changes in plan of care and communicates with supervising occupational therapist. Assists the occupational therapist with managing the established discharge plan throughout treatment. Supervises and delegates to ancillary staff and students consistent with state laws and department policy. Completes legible, accurate, and clear documentation within the established timeframe identified in the department policy and procedure and in accordance with accreditation requirements and insurance regulations.
Required:
Graduate of an accredited occupational therapist assistant program. Current State Board of Occupational Therapist Assistant licensure. BLS certification.
Preferred:
One year of occupational therapist assistant experience.
