Occupational Therapist or Occupational Therapy Assistant-School-Based Kansas City, MO 64134 Part-time, Full-time Part-time, Full-time 21st Century Therapy is a private pediatric practice with over 30 years of experience providing therapy services to children in the Kansas City area, specializing in school-based therapy. We are seeking a qualified full or part-time Occupational Therapist for a school-based position for the 2026-27 school year. A COTA with school-based/pediatric experience will be considered. Job Responsibilities:
Facilitates the development of children with mental, emotional, and physical disabilities by planning and administering educationally recommended occupational therapy in accordance with the IEP. Meets the child's goals and needs and provides quality care by assessing and interpreting evaluation results to determine occupational therapy treatment plans in consultation with the IEP team. Develops and implements IEP programs that involve functional skills, motor and perceptual skills, sensory strategies, and fosters activities of daily living within the school setting. Promotes maximum independence by providing therapeutic interventions according to the child's physical capacity, intelligence level, and interest. Provides consultation with the IEP team to provide classroom accommodations and modifications. Provides and implements sensory strategies, diets, and education for students with sensory needs. Completes daily therapy notes related to the IEP goals. Completes discharge planning by consulting with other team members. Completes quarterly progress reports. Maintains confidentiality according to HIPPA and FERPA. Strong working knowledge of Autism, Developmental Delay, Genetic Disorders, Sensory Integration Dysfunction, Attention Deficit-Hyperactivity Disorder, Neuromuscular Disorders, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, and Emotional/Behavioral Disorders. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and establishing professional networks.
Occupational Therapy Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:
Current MO state occupational therapist license. Preference for at least one year of recent work experience as an occupational therapist. Graduate from an accredited occupational therapy/certified occupational therapy assistant program. Certified Occupational Therapist Registered (OTR)/Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
