Position:

Occupational Therapist Assistant Reports to: Director of Exceptional Children Position Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) to support students in a school-based setting. The COTA will work under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist to help students develop the skills necessary for academic success and independence in the school environment. Key Responsibilities Implement occupational therapy treatment plans developed by the supervising Occupational Therapist Provide direct therapy services to students with a variety of disabilities Support students in developing fine motor, sensory, self-care, and functional skills Assist with data collection and documentation of student progress toward IEP goals Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and related service providers Adapt classroom materials and environments to support student needs Maintain accurate and timely records in compliance with district, state, and federal guidelines Participate in IEP meetings as appropriate Qualifications Associate's degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program Current state licensure/certification as a COTA Experience working with children, preferably in a school setting Knowledge of special education processes, including IEPs (preferred) Strong communication and collaboration skills Working Environment The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Work in this classification is considered light physical work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects. Generally, the job requires sitting, walking, and standing.
