Job Description

We are looking for a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our team. This position offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a team of dedicated health care professionals that pride themselves in providing quality patient care. Our Rehab Department has an excellent reputation in the community for providing rehabilitation services. Daily duties include but are not limited to the following: Following treatment plans provided by the Occupational Therapist, resident screens, and attendance at facility and family care conference meetings. You'll be involved in instructing the nursing staff and patient families on exercise programs, patient precautions/restrictions, and safety education. Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to the below) Communicate patient progress or problems to supervisor and other team members as appropriate; assist with patient scheduling and input charges daily to patient records Practice as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant in accordance with Guidelines. Document patient care in accordance with regulatory, licensing, payer and accrediting requirements Instruct patient's family or nursing staff in follow-through programs, precautions, and safety training as appropriate Maintain equipment and work area in a safe and clean condition Make presentations to support marketing efforts at team conferences and in-services Handle job responsibilities in accordance with appropriate professional standard and applicable state/federal laws Qualifications Valid and current Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant license. Previous experience in a skilled nursing home setting preferred. Must have skills in working cooperatively with the interdisciplinary team, and ability to organize and carry out responsibilities efficiently and effectively. Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately in a wide variety of circumstances, both verbally and in writing. Have ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. This position can be physically demanding, involving stooping, kneeling, crouching, twisting, lifting, and standing for long periods. Ability to move heavy equipment and lift patients or help them turn, stand, or walk.
