Job Description

A specialized educational services organization is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) in New York, NY to support a pediatric student population with complex developmental and neurological needs. This role focuses on implementing treatment plans, collaborating with an interdisciplinary team, and helping students build functional skills in a school-based environment. About the

In-person Responsibilities:
Implement treatment plans developed by the supervising occupational therapist based on assessments and student needs Support the preparation and modification of individualized education programs and related documentation Document student progress, interventions, and outcomes accurately and in a timely manner Assist with functional assessments and updates to treatment plans under supervision Collaborate with teachers, therapists, paraprofessionals, families, and other members of the care team to support student outcomes Provide education and guidance to students, families, and caregivers as appropriate
Qualifications:
Valid New York State license as a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant, or eligibility to be licensed in New York State At least 5 years of clinical experience as a pediatric Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant Experience working with children with brain-based disorders or neurological involvement Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills Highly detail-oriented, motivated, flexible, and able to take initiative Ability to maintain confidentiality and work within HIPAA and FERPA requirements
Desired Skills:
Experience supporting students with medically fragile needs, traumatic brain injury, or intellectual and developmental disabilities Familiarity with assistive technology and multidisciplinary school-based therapy environments Experience using a multisensory approach that incorporates art, music, and technology Exposure to educational research, staff training, or continuing education initiatives
