Job Description

Under general supervision, all full-time faculty teach assigned classes established by the SLCC Full Time Faculty Handbook for Compensation and Workload and the Academic Freedom, Professional Responsibility and Tenure Policy in a manner that reflects the mission and values of Salt Lake Community College. Tenured and tenure-track faculty participate in teaching, professional activities, and college service. All Faculty will maintain an on-site campus presence to encourage in-person relationships and create engaging, meaningful, and impactful learning experiences. Faculty are required to maintain professional boundaries with all SLCC students. 1. Prepare and teach various OTA classes and strive for excellence. 2. Demonstrate distinction promise as a teacher with expected pursuit of excellence in teaching. 3. Be technologically literate, knowledgeable, and innovative in the use of a variety of modern teaching technologies including the use of computers and multi-media in lectures, laboratories, and distance learning environments. 4. Provide leadership and professional contributions to the Department, Division, School and College. 5. Participate in professional or occupational development. 6. Maintain and pursue additional creditable academic degrees and/or certificates in one's chosen field of professional responsibility. 7. Maintain depth of understanding in the chosen field and contribute to current knowledge of the discipline. 8. Maintain a positive attitude toward work, students, colleagues and administration. 9. Encourage community service and involvement. 10. Prepare course syllabi, outlines, daily plans and associate materials. 11. Assist in the development of new courses and in the upgrading of current courses and programs, including curriculum development and review. 12. Assist new and continuing students in advisement capacity on courses and programs. 13. Attend regularly scheduled meetings and workshops and participate in committee assignments. 14. Assess and maintain records and grades of student performance. 15. Maintain regular office hours and be available to provide help for students. 16. Work with concurrently enrolled students and faculty and develop and maintain articulation agreements with local applied technology centers and universities. 17. Assist and advise students in professional and student organizations. 18. Be willing to learn and use electronic media. 19. Participate in maintaining accreditation status. 20. Attendance at New Faculty Orientation sessions is required. 21. Accept other duties as assigned. Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of people with a variety of abilities and backgrounds, to maintain good working relationships across the College. Ability to work with all groups from a variety of academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, and with community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities a. Occupational Therapy or Occupational Therapy Assistant degree from an accredited institution of higher education. b. Bachelor's degree in closely related field or in education or ability to obtain a Bachelor's Degree within 24 months of hire . c. Three (3) years of full time clinical experience in health care settings as an OT or OTA practitioner. d. Licensed or eligible for current licensure in Occupational Therapy or Occupational Therapy Assistant in the State of Utah.a. Evidence of successful teaching experience in Occupational Therapy preferred. Important Information Final candidate must pass a background check and drug test. Faculty in the school of Health Professions must have an annual TB test and receive annual influenza immunizations.
