Job Description
Under the supervision of the Director of Rehabilitation Services, Rehabilitation Services Supervisor, Staff Occupational Therapist or designee performs designated skilled and routine tasks related to the operation of Occupational Therapy services. The Occupational Therapy Assistant assists the Occupational Therapist with patient related activities as directed and per the plan of care established by the Occupational Therapist. The Occupational Therapy Assistant actively works in collaboration with others to provide quality interdisciplinary care. The Occupational Therapy Assistant actively participates in operational aspects of the department: assisting with performance improvement activities within the department, participates in CQI activities, assists with monitoring budget guidelines, ensures that patient charges are accurate and completed in a timely basis, and participates in infection control, departmental equipment training, organizational safety and fire safety programs.
Experience preferred but not required. A thorough knowledge of the field of Occupational Therapy and the ability to work in co-operation with physicians, rehab staff members, other hospital personnel, and with patients and families. Current CPR required. Graduate of a School of Occupational Therapy Assistants or equivalent which is approved by the American Occupational Therapy Association Accreditation Board. Successful completion of State Board Examination of West Virginia. Current state of West Virginia license or Temporary license. Once licensed, must maintain current licensure requirements. Current membership in the AOTA preferred.
