Full Job Description Job Title:
Ophthalmic Technician and Scribe Summary description: The employee works day to day in an ophthalmology practice and works to efficiently provide patient care by performing eye-related clinical tasks such as: taking accurate patient medical histories, perform testing on patients for visits, scribing for the doctors, assisting with in-office procedures, and assisting with triage phone calls.
Tasks and responsibilities:
  • Work-up patients and accurately fill out required fields.
  • Perform testing required prior to visit with physician
  • Assist in the procedure room when needed and help keep the room stocked, organized and sterile.
  • Scribe and work up patients accurately and efficiently from correct history to complete coding.
  • Assist with phone calls and triaging patient questions from medications, refill requests, and general questions.
  • Strong preference for individuals capable of Refractions with Phoropter and experience with
Optical Biometry Minor Functions:
Assists with phone calls and customer relations within the office. Help out on the floor as needed or scheduled by the Clinic Manager.
Skills Necessary:
Employee should be sensitive to patient needs and attentive to follow up times to all patients, including returning all messages by the end of the business day. Provide excellent customer service and communicate well with the doctor. Knowledge of ophthalmology, protocols, treatments, procedures and refractions. Experience in ophthalmology required.
Working Hours:
Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 4:30pm, variable as required by the needs of the practice
Pay:
$20-35 an hour commensurate to experience
