Job Description

Job Overview Join our dynamic healthcare team as an Optometric Technician / Receptionist, where your enthusiasm and attention to detail will play a vital role in delivering exceptional eye care experiences. In this energetic position, you will be the friendly face welcoming patients, managing appointments, and supporting the clinical team with vital patient care tasks. Responsibilities Greet patients warmly upon arrival and efficiently manage check-in and check-out procedures using electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Epic or similar platforms Collect comprehensive patient intake information, including medical history, current medications, and insurance details, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations Measure vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and visual acuity to assist the clinical team in assessing patient needs Prepare patients for eye examinations by performing preliminary testing Assist the optometrist Maintain detailed medical records and documentation of patient interactions, procedures, and billing information with precision and adherence to privacy standards Support optical sales by providing product knowledge on eyewear options, assisting with frame selection, and processing retail transactions with retail math accuracy Experience Prior experience working in a medical office setting or ophthalmology/optometry clinic is highly preferred Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy related to the eye, and physiology concepts relevant to eye health Familiarity with EMR systems such as Epic or other electronic health record platforms is advantageous Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and data security at all times Experience with medical coding and billing processes is a plus but not required; training will be provided Background in retail sales or customer service enhances ability to engage positively with patients while promoting eyewear products Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining excellent patient care standards This role is perfect for motivated individuals eager to grow their healthcare skills while making a meaningful difference in patients' lives.
