Position Summary Clinical work up technician/screener/scribe. The clinical expectations of this are the initial work up phase of the patient's visit. This includes vision testing, eye pressure, dilation, chief complaint, history of present illness, and medical history. Scribing as needed will also be a part of this role. This role can also include triage calls, managing prescription refills, lab orders, and lab results. This is a basic list of the possible job duties expected of a clinical technician, however, this is an evolving role, and duties may change slightly from time to time, and there will be an emphasis on cross-training within the practice. This role will also include performing BCVA as the certified VAE for our clinical research department. Candidates with
VAE/BCVA
experience are preferred but we are willing to train and certify the right candidate. The technician will also be required to know and follow all Rocky Mountain Uveitis Policies and Procedures. Responsibilities
- Vision testing, eye pressure, dilation, chief complaint, history of present illness, and medical history.
- Managing lab orders and results and needed.
- Managing prescription refills received via Erx, fax, phone, email.
- Triaging patients via phone for symptoms and relaying information or setting appointments per the physician's recommendations.
- Scribing from time-to-time PRN due to staffing or clinical flow.
- Communicate with physicians if patients are going to be late.
- Communicating delays in clinic to patients and setting expectations with patients regarding the wait.
- perform BCVA for clinical research studies, and adhere to all research related guidelines.
- Other duties as assigned. Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED
- Some college or degree preferred Preferred Skills/Experience
- General understanding of ophthalmic practice, patient care, and terminology.
- Knowledge of medical instrumentation, proper care and usage.
- Proficient typing/keyboard skills.
- Prior customer service experience preferred; in a medical setting is highly desired
- Excellent communication skills and etiquette
- Be able to multi-task and work well under pressure
- Ability to work accurately and efficiently
- Knowledge of Nextech
EPM, EHR

- Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Scanning, and Faxes Certificates & Licenses
COA/COT/COMT

- Ophthalmic scribe certification (OSC) preferred
