We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Ophthalmic Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional care to our patients while assisting ophthalmologists and optometrists with a variety of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care and Testing:
Conduct various diagnostic tests, including measuring visual acuity, pupil assessment, and refracting. Perform comprehensive ocular assessments to assist in diagnosing conditions such as cataracts, glaucoma, and other eye diseases. Administer eye drops and assist with treatments under the direction of the ophthalmologist. Perform specialized tests such as Amsler grid testing and angle assessment. Assist with fundus photography and angiography procedures. Measure and record patient's eye function, visual history, and other important information. Provide patient education on procedures, tests, and treatment options.
Clinical and Organizational Support:
Maintain accurate and detailed patient records. Clean, sterilize, and stock clinical equipment and exam rooms. Triage patient and doctor needs, including prescription refills and communication with referring doctors. Ensure efficient patient flow while maintaining high levels of comfort and satisfaction. Support the office's administrative duties as needed, including assisting in stock management and keeping the clinical environment organized.
Professional Skills and Communication:
Demonstrate excellent communication skills with patients, colleagues, and physicians. Exhibit a caring and professional attitude while maintaining patient confidentiality. Participate in ongoing training and staff development meetings. Maintain a high standard of care and professionalism in every patient interaction. Be adaptable and able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Note:
This is not an exhaustive list of responsibilities. Additional duties may be assigned as needed to assist with the smooth operation of the practice.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED equivalent required. Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) preferred, but not required. We are willing to train the right candidate. At least one year of experience in ophthalmic care preferred. Knowledge of ophthalmic equipment and terminology is a plus. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team setting. Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply. Willingness to travel between office locations if necessary.
Physical Demands:
Ability to stand, walk, sit, and perform tasks that require bending, stooping, and stretching for extended periods.
