Previous medical experience is preferred, however, we are also willing to train the right candidate without background medical experience for this role. Applicants must be willing to cross train to assist front desk coordinators, during busy periods and during employee absences. Our ideal candidate must be mature, able to learn new skills quickly, problem solve, and work with people of all ages. You must possess strong communication skills and communicate with patients in a friendly, efficient and compassionate manner. We are looking for a candidate who is interested in learning new things, advancing their skills. This position requires an individual who wants to be part of a team and have the working team concept. You must be self-motivated, organized, and handle stress well, maintaining a positive upbeat attitude, to function in our fast-paced work environment. Optometric Technician:
Optometric technicians work with optometrists to assist in carrying out eye examinations and treatments. An optometric technician's work responsibilities include testing patients' visual acuity, depth perception, color vision, ancillary testing, and pupil reflexes. In addition, they prepare exam schedules, ready exam rooms, assist repairing eyeglasses, clean equipment, and gathering essential patient information. When bringing patients back for an examination they take a detailed chief complaint from the patient, asking probing questions to elicit specific medical complaints and concerns. Technicians enter the patient's current eyeglass and contact lens prescriptions into their electronic chart, and enter in the patient's medical history and current medications. Any concerns or unusual findings that a patient may have should also be immediately reported to the provider. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent Previous Optometry/Ophthalmology/Medical office experience Reliable Transportation and Attendance Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong multi-tasking and time management skills Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Strong problem-solving skills Trustworthiness Team player with good interpersonal and listening skills Passion for self-improvement and continuing education
