Job Description

Position Overview We are a private practice seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Optometric Technician to join our team. In this role, you will assist optometrists in various examinations. Your responsibilities will include performing preliminary screenings, managing patient records, and supporting the overall efficiency of patient care. Customer service and people skills are a must! Duties Performing specialized tests such as OCT, Optos fundus photography, and corneal topography. Assisting with contact lens fittings for all types of Contact Lenses, Gas Permeable, Hybrid, Scleral and Disposable, including teaching patients' insertion and removal. Operating diagnostic equipment like autorefractors, tonometer, and visual field analyzers. Authorize and bill vision and medical insurance. Maintain accurate patient records, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Maintain the store's cleanliness and organization, contributing to the store's overall visual presentation. Answer phone calls, assist with scheduling appointments and Weave patient communications. Provide exceptional customer service in a retail setting, ability to sell soft contact lenses and discuss rebates. Skills Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with diverse patient populations. Familiarity with OfficeMate and EHR systems for patient management is a plus. Ability to work effectively with others as well as an individual contributor in both clinic and retail environments. Ensures accuracy in all transactions/interactions with patients. Strong basic math skills, familiarity with computers and calculators. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and data protection. Optical field experience is a must!
