Full Job Description Overview:
An Ophthalmic Testeris an asset to an Ophthalmologist as they assist in providing excellent patient care to the patients during their visit. They are able to handle a wide range of duties while using equipment to perform the initial testing needed to prepare a patient for an exam with an Ophthalmologist.
Responsibilities:
  • Performing Visual Field tests, OCT, B-scan, Fundus Photo, Topography, AR, ERG.
  • Knowledge of ophthalmic anatomy, physiology, and diseases
  • Proficient in performing diagnostic tests and measurements.
  • Ability to operate and maintain ophthalmic equipment.
  • Provide exceptional customer service during every patient encounter.
  • Display a professional attitude, greet patients promptly with a smile, and demonstrate patience throughout the patient testing process.
  • Perform several different diagnostic tests on patients of all ages and mobility.
  • Provide a brief explanation of each test to patients so they understand what role the test is playing in their diagnosis and care.
Interface each test result to the patient's electronic medical record.
Qualifications:
  • Maintains professionalism in interactions with patients and coworkers.
  • Exhibits a positive attitude and is flexible in accepting work assignments and priorities.
  • Meets attendance, tardiness expectations.
  • Dependable and follows policies and procedures.
  • Computer skills and EMR experience is preferred.
  • High Schol Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience in a Medical setting (preferably in an Ophthalmology practice).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patients and healthcare team.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and record keeping.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Empathy and compassion towards patients with vision impairments.
