Ophthalmic Technician Job Type:
Full-time Overview:
Join our dynamic and patient-centered ophthalmology practice as an Ophthalmic Technician , where your expertise will directly impact the quality of care we provide. In this vital role, you'll work closely with physicians, clinical staff, and patients to ensure smooth clinic operations and exceptional eye care services. We're looking for someone with strong clinical skills, attention to detail, and a passion for delivering outstanding patient experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
Greet and prepare patients for exams; obtain and record medical histories and chief complaints. Perform preliminary eye exams including visual acuity, pupil evaluation, eye pressure (tonometry), and dilation. Operate and maintain ophthalmic testing equipment (OCT, fundus photography, etc.). Accurately document patient information using Electronic Medical Records (EMR). Assist with in-office procedures including laser treatments and ocular injections. Provide patient education, including instructions on medications and pre/post-surgical care. Ensure exam rooms and equipment are clean, stocked, and functioning properly. Maintain patient confidentiality and uphold HIPAA, OSHA, and compliance standards. Demonstrate initiative, professionalism, and teamwork in a fast-paced environment. Ability to travel between satellite offices.
Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent required. Previous experience in an ophthalmology or medical practice setting highly desirable. Proficient in medical terminology and clinical documentation. Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to adapt to flexible scheduling (early mornings and/or evenings).
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, and use hands for extended periods. Manual dexterity to operate medical instruments and computers. Normal vision and hearing required for patient interaction and testing.
Certifications & Training:
Annual completion of OSHA and HIPAA training.
