In this vital role, you will serve as the primary liaison between patients, surgeons, and clinical staff, ensuring seamless coordination of ophthalmic surgical procedures. Your expertise in patient care, medical records management, and ophthalmology-specific procedures will help deliver exceptional surgical experiences. Duties Coordinate all aspects of ophthalmic surgeries, including scheduling, pre-operative assessments, and post-operative follow-up Serve as the main point of contact for patients before and after surgery, providing clear instructions and compassionate support Verify patient insurance coverage and assist with medical billing and coding related to surgical procedures Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by maintaining strict confidentiality of patient information Conduct intake assessments, including gathering medical history, vital signs, and performing basic eye examinations using optical equipment Maintain accurate and detailed medical records utilizing EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic or similar platforms Uphold aseptic technique standards during all clinical interactions to prevent infection and ensure patient safety Assist with front desk duties including appointment scheduling, patient check-in/out, and managing clinic flow Collaborate with ophthalmologists and surgical teams to prepare surgical form Qualifications Proven experience in medical office settings with a focus on ophthalmology or optometry preferred Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology related to eye health, and surgical procedures Familiarity with EMR systems such as Nextech or other healthcare software platforms Experience with optical equipment used in ophthalmic assessments is highly desirable Excellent patient care skills with a compassionate approach to diverse patient populations. Ability to perform intake assessments, eye pressure check, visual acuity, and basic clinical procedures accurately Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality and privacy of patient information Background in medical billing, coding, or retail sales experience is a plus for understanding insurance processes and financial transactions Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for managing medical records and clinic schedules Join our team as an Ophthalmic Surgical Coordinator and be part of a passionate group dedicated to transforming eye care!
