Job Description

Nemours is seeking an Ophthalmic Tech. (Full-Time), to join our team in Downtown Orlando, Florida. The COT provides individualized, age appropriate, culturally competent, goal directed and family centered care in the Ophthalmological clinic. The COT completes thorough medical histories and performs ophthalmological testing and ancillary procedures within their scope of practice. Position requires a great deal of initiative and flexibility to cope with stress and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Given the level of training and experience required in their position, the employee with be expected to work well independently. Employee must be extremely discreet to maintain patient confidentiality. Accurately collects health care data and documents appropriate information in patient record according to policy and training resources. Independently performs and accurately documents standard ophthalmological testing/procedures within COT scope of practice. Is responsible for professional practice and development of self and others according to scope of practice. Complies with and promotes Nemours Standards of Behavior. Provides safe and effective patient/family care. Maintains a safe environment for patients, families, visitors and employees. Performs clerical duties as assigned. Participates in ensuring the overall financial well-being of the Division of Ophthalmology and the Nemours Foundation. Job Requirements High School Diploma required. Specialized (1 year of training beyond high school). Minimum of six (5) months to one (1) year of experience required. Certified Ophthalmic Assistant or Certified Ophthalmic Technician preferred. Travel will be required to satellite locations.
