The Florida Eye Clinic has grown to an impressive 10 practice clinic of ophthalmologists and optometrists with a state-of-the-art Ambulatory Surgical Center at our home practice in Altamonte Springs. We believe our mission is to maximize the visual potential of each of our patients through the highest quality of vision care. We are dedicated to providing a positive experience for our patients, so The Florida Eye Clinic is seeking a professional, positive, and team-oriented individual to join our family as a Ophthalmic Assistant for our Altamonte Springs location.
WE ARE CURRENTLY HIRING FOR THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS
Curry Ford location (4442 B Curry Ford Road; Orlando, FL 32812)
WHAT YOUR DAY WILL LOOK LIKE
: The Ophthalmic Technician begins each patient's eye examination prior to the physician's examination by completing routine tests and assessments following standard protocols. Reporting to the Technician Supervisor and interacts cooperatively with the patients, physicians, and other clinic personnel. The Ophthalmic Assistant must maintain patient confidentiality.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Have a post-high school education Be computer literate Be certified as an Ophthalmic Assistant (highly preferred) Have prior work experience as an Ophthalmic Assistant (desired) Spanish Speaking required
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
1. Records patient's medical and visual histories. 2. Checks patients near and distance visual acuities. 3. Administers eye drops when instructed to anesthetize, dilate or medicate. 4. Performs refractometry/manifest and cyclopegia. 5. Performs visual fields testing (desired) 6. Assists physicians during patient examinations if necessary. 7. Performs Amsler tests. 8. Checks muscle balance and motility (basic). 9. Checks versions and ductions (basic). 10. Checks pupils including Pupil size, Pupil Reaction and +/- APD. 12. Performs retinoscopy (desired) 13. Performs slit lamp exams of anterior segment. 14. Completes appropriate consents and other forms. 15. Performs keratometer readings. (desired) 16. Performs Schirmers tests, Osmolarity testing, Inflammadry testing. 17. Checks angles temporal and nasal 18. Neutralizes lenses with lensometer.(automated/ manual) 19. Checks fit of contact lenses (desired) 20. Performs glare testing with BAT. 21. Performs tension checks. 22. Performs Worth and Wirt testing- stereo & fusion. 23. Performs color vision screenings. 24. Educate patients regarding administration of medications, pre and post-operative instructions as directed by the physician. 25. Blood pressure and pulse 26. Cleans, rinses and patches eyes, as needed 27. Checks messages and medication line as needed.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Stocks supply within the work area and replenish as needed. 2. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned. 3. A technician will be assigned alternate responsibilities on a permanent or intermittent basis

Slit lamp Applanation tonometer Retinoscope (desired) Keratometer (desired) Phoropter in plus/ minus. Both desired. Brightness acuity tester (BAT) Potential acuity meter (PAM) Lensometer(automated or manual) Trial frame and trial lenses Distometer Humphrey visual field Goldmann visual field (desired) OCT Auto refraction (AR)
REQUIRED SKILLS
Aptitudes:
Audio, visual and verbal ability, ability to give and follow instructions clearly and concisely, ability to organize.
Techniques and Procedures:
Requires 100% interaction with people, manual dexterity to an extent of 95 - 100%, reaching limited to 60 - 70%, sitting and standing 100%.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to operate visual testing equipment May be required to stand/ sit for extended periods of time Must be able to move about the clinic freely There is to be No lifting of patients at any time.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
A skills assessment will be done on applicants during or after their interview on all technical requirements listed.

25% travel required.
