Job Description
Bay Area Eye Institute is a growing, successful ophthalmology practice with a deep commitment to exceptional patient care. Since our focus is on cornea and glaucoma, we care for patients with dry eye, allergic conjunctivitis, cataracts, keratoconus, corneal transplants, corneal ulcers, pterygium and glaucoma. We also see patients with general eye conditions such as diabetes and macular degeneration. We have a part time optometrist who sees patients one and half days a week as well. We are hoping to expand our back office staff with an experienced ophthalmic assistant or technician who is looking for professional growth in a collegial and constructive atmosphere. We have a seasoned, friendly, diverse, and cohesive staff with low turnover. Since we have a small office, our staff is cross-trained in the day-to-day functions of our practice. The experience/certification/abilities we are looking for are: a minimum of two years as an ophthalmic assistant/scribe, certification is a plus, proficiency in all standard ophthalmic work up elements, proficiency with standard ophthalmic diagnostic equipment, computer literacy, bilingual ability (Spanish-English is very helpful but not essential), familiarity with most non-patient related back office tasks (maintaining exam rooms, monitoring/ordering supplies, processing prescription refills per protocols, etc.), experience with the following devices preferred: Atlas topographer, Pentacam tomographer, Lenstar, IOLMaster, immersion A-scan, endothelial cell counter, Humphrey Visual Field Analyzer, Cirrus HD-OCT. Refraction skills are required.
