MEDICAL SCHOOL, OPTOMETRY
SCHOOL, orPHYSICIAN ASSISTANT
(PA) school. Join a busy, well-established two-physician comprehensive ophthalmology practice with an on-site ambulatory surgery center (ASC). Our practice also hosts medical students for clinical rotations, providing a dynamic academic environment alongside real-world clinical and surgical exposure. Surgery is performed 2-3 days per month. We are seeking motivated, dependable individuals to join our team as Gap Year Ophthalmic Technicians/Assistants. Candidates will have the opportunity not only to work closely with physicians in clinic, but also to receive training in the operating room, including observing and assisting with ophthalmic surgeries. Medical assisting experience is preferred but not required. We are willing to train the right candidate. Responsibilities- Assist physicians with patient workups including history taking and documentation
- Perform visual acuity testing, visual fields, intraocular pressure measurements, and other diagnostic testing
- Obtain imaging such as OCT and digital photography
- Support patient flow in a fast-paced clinic environment
- Provide patient education and instructions
- Assist with minor procedures in clinic
- Opportunity to observe and assist in the operating room, including surgical preparation and turnover Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree completed
- Strong interest in healthcare/medicine (pre-med, pre-optometry, or pre-PA applicants encouraged)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask
- Basic computer proficiency
- Medical assisting experience or certification preferred but not required Why Join Us
