Job Description

General Ophthalmic Technician Job Description Responsible for work up of patients including documentation of chief complaint, medical, ocular, family and social histories; performs various testing needed to assist the physician. Ophthalmic Technician Responsibilities Obtain and document comprehensive medical and ophthalmic history utilizing an EMR Obtain preliminary examination screening (Visual acuity, Lensometry, evaluation of Motility, Pupillary Function Tests, IOP check (by Tonopen and Applanation), Confrontational VF, RAM. Perform diagnostic imaging including OCT, OCT-A, Optos, Fundus Photography, Fluorescein Angiography Assist with office-based procedures (Intraocular injections, laser photocoagulation, and pneumatic retinopexy). Provide telephone support regarding ocular emergencies, patient care questions, and pharmacy refills. Assist making appointments, calling to confirm, various front desk duties as a back up. Scribe - transcribes results of patient exams on medical record as physician(s) orally dictate during patient exam Qualifications High school diploma or GED. COA or COT certification is strongly preferred but not required All applicants should possess the skills to learn new information and tasks quickly. All applicants should possess excellent computer, written and verbal communication skills with problem solving ability. All candidates should exhibit a professional demeanor, organizational skills and work well with others. Requires reliability, punctuality, and strong work ethic. •Salary & sign on bonus if experienced certified COA & beyond•
