Job Description

Job Summary Join our dynamic healthcare team as an Optometric Technician, where your enthusiasm and attention to detail will directly enhance patient care and streamline clinical operations. In this vital role, you will assist the optometrists by preparing patients for exams, conducting preliminary tests, and managing medical records with precision. Your proactive approach will ensure a smooth patient experience from intake to checkout, supporting the delivery of exceptional eye care services. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment dedicated to improving vision health. Duties Greet patients warmly and efficiently manage the intake process, including collecting medical histories and verifying insurance information Measure and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and ocular measurements using proper aseptic techniques Assist with pre-testing procedures including visual acuity tests and refraction assessments Prepare exam rooms and ensure all ophthalmic equipment is sterilized and maintained according to HIPAA and safety standards Support the ophthalmology team by documenting medical records accurately within EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Epic or similar platforms Educate patients on their upcoming procedures, answer basic questions about eye health, and provide post-exam instructions Manage front desk responsibilities including scheduling appointments, processing payments, and maintaining organized medical records Skills Strong patient care skills with a focus on compassionate communication and professionalism Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality at all times Experience with intake procedures, vital signs measurement, and optical testing equipment Familiarity with ophthalmology practices, medical terminology, anatomy, physiology related to eye health, and medical coding/billing processes Proficiency in EMR systems such as Epic or other electronic health record platforms Ability to perform aseptic techniques to maintain a sterile environment during examinations and procedures Retail sales experience helpful for understanding optical products and assisting patients in selecting eyewear Excellent organizational skills for managing medical records, front desk duties, and clinic flow management Basic understanding of pediatrics as it relates to eye care for young patients Embark on a rewarding career path where your dedication directly impacts patients' vision health!
