Job Description
Job Summary Join our dynamic healthcare team as an Optometric Technician / Receptionist, where you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care and ensuring smooth clinic operations. This energetic position combines front desk responsibilities with clinical support, offering a rewarding opportunity to work in a fast-paced ophthalmology or optometry setting. You will be the friendly face patients see first, guiding them through their visit while assisting with vital clinical tasks that support accurate diagnoses and treatment plans. Your enthusiasm and attention to detail will help create a welcoming environment that promotes patient satisfaction and clinic efficiency. Duties Greet patients warmly, verify their information, and manage appointment scheduling using electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Epic or similar platforms Conduct patient intake by collecting medical histories, updating records, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy Prepare patients for eye examinations by performing preliminary testing such as visual acuity assessments, auto-refraction, tonometry, visual acuity. Manage medical records accurately, including documentation of clinical notes, medical coding, billing, and insurance information Assist providers with patient flow and exam preparation. Verify and pull medical and vision insurance benefits. Provide contact lens training for patients (insertion/removal and care) Schedule appointments and collect payments and process transactions accurately. Experience Prior experience in a medical office environment or clinic setting is highly preferred Knowledge of optometry procedures and terminology enhances your ability to support clinical staff effectively Familiarity with EMR systems like EHR or other healthcare software is advantageous Experience in front desk operations demonstrates excellent communication skills and customer service aptitude Ability to handle multiple responsibilities efficiently while maintaining a positive attitude is essential for success in this energetic role This position may require occasional travel and coverage between our Idaho Falls and Rexburg locations based on scheduling and operational needs. Employees must be flexible and willing to assist at either location when needed. Reliable transportation is required.
