Overview Join our dynamic healthcare team as an Ophthalmic Technician / Front Desk specialist! You will be the first point of contact, managing patient intake, vital signs, and medical records while supporting ophthalmology procedures with precision and professionalism. Responsibilities Greet patients warmly, verify their information, and assist with check-in procedures at the front desk Collect and document patient vital signs accurately, including blood pressure, pulse, and visual acuity measurements Prepare patients for ophthalmic examinations by performing preliminary tests. Maintain thorough medical records in electronic health record (EHR) systems ensuring HIPAA compliance at all times Assist ophthalmologists during exams by handling optical equipment, performing basic testing, and supporting clinical procedures Manage appointment scheduling, patient flow, and insurance verification to optimize clinic efficiency Support administrative duties including medical coding, billing processes, and retail sales of optical products or accessories Requirements Prior experience in medical office settings or ophthalmology clinics preferred; strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and ophthalmic procedures is essential Demonstrated ability to perform patient care tasks such as intake assessments and vital signs with attention to detail Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and data security Experience using EMR systems like Epic or similar platforms for documentation and record management Knowledge of optical experience or retail sales is a plus; ability to handle retail math for product transactions confidently Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask efficiently in a busy clinic environment Excellent communication skills to provide clear instructions and compassionate support to patients of all ages, including pediatrics This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in ophthalmology while making a meaningful difference in patients' lives.
