Job Description

Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optometric Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will support the optometrist in providing exceptional eye care services to our patients. You will be responsible for various tasks that ensure the smooth operation of our optometry practice, enhancing the patient experience while maintaining high standards of care. Duties Assist patients with check-in and check-out processes, ensuring accurate medical records are maintained. Conduct preliminary eye exams by measuring and performing basic vision tests. Prepare examination rooms and ensure all necessary equipment is ready for use. Manage medical records and documentation, ensuring compliance with privacy regulations. Educate patients on proper eyewear care and assist with frame selection in a retail environment. Support the optometrist during examinations by documenting findings and managing patient flow. Handle administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, answering patient inquiries. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the office space, including equipment and supplies. Skills Strong knowledge of medical records management and familiarity with optometry practices. Understanding of physiology related to vision and eye health. Proficiency in using medical office systems for scheduling and record keeping. Experience in retail sales, including an understanding of retail math for eyewear transactions. Basic knowledge of medical coding practices is a plus. Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients and team members. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. A compassionate approach to patient care, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere for all visitors.
